Opiate Analgesic
Opiods are the most commonly used analgesics for the clinical management of acute and chronic pain. There are various side effects associated with long-term use of opioids including the development of tolerance, which results in adequate pain relief. Current regimens designed to enhance analgesia have little effect on the underlying mechanisms that contribute to the development of tolerance and the associated risks of toxicity, dependence and addiction. The Company is investigating product candidates that may greatly reduce the development of tolerance to opiate analgesics, and provide improved pain relief with lower opiate doses.
